Comfy Cashmere

(section 1 of 7)

Here's the dilemma: its getting cold, but you don't want to look like a snowman when you get dressed to go out. Here's the solution: cashmere. Cashmere is silky soft and often woven very thin, so that you have all the comfort and warmth of a sweater without the roughness of wool or bulk of cotton. Plus, since cashmere is so soft you can wear it next to the skin, so you don't need to worry about bulky layers. Widely known as one of the world's most luxurious fibers, cashmere was a big focus on the runways this fall. Designers have started to make good use of this prime thread; it's no longer relegated to the basic crew neck sweaters.  We're talking cashmere meets hot pink, low-cut necklines, peep holes, and bell sleeves

Fortunately we have Nanette Lepore to thank for adding an edge to your basic cashmere sweater. Nanette's Peephole Sweater is 100% cashmere and transitions perfectly from the office to happy hour cocktails. The pink and chocolate striping coupled with the slightly sexy peephole make this cashmere sweater a Fall Stand Out.

Here is a sweater you won't mind putting back on once dinner is over. Central Park West's cashmere caplet is all elegance and confidence. Whenever possible, we recommend you wear this sweater with red lipstick. The broach and the fur collar will liven up that simple black dress without being too loud, and keep you warm without bundling you up.

The comfort of cashmere lends itself really well to more casual settings, too. The Cris Cashmere Poncho is perfect for those "dinner and a movie" nights out with your guy, and works well for that in-between weather . . . when it's too chilly for just a jean jacket and too warm for a winter one. (100% cashmere).

Le Tigre is all about retro cool and this jacket is by far my favorite from Le Tigre for fall. Made with a silk and cashmere blend, the Orange Zip Front Hoodie has pure hipster appeal. Make sure to check out the multi-colored inner lining of the hood as well!
