I know, I know. . . you probably don't need any pointers on how to shop for
clothes. In fact, shopping for women's clothing and handbags for many of
us is such an unquenchable desire that we've become experts! Despite your
level of expertise, shopping on
clearance presents it's own challenges. Although the payoff is often great, it is a
riskier venture. Especially on-line since you typically can't return the
item you've purchased.
When shopping for online clearance bargains, the following suggestions can serve
as good guidelines to help you avoid an unflattering or unwanted
clearance purchase:
1. Buy Familiar Brands - Buying fashion brands that you know and
love is a much safer bet than taking a chance on the unknown. Cuts within
the same brand are usually consistent, so if you own a Nanette Lepore top in size
2 there is a good chance that most of her tops in size 2 will fit you well.
However, if you are interested in a brand that you don't own, be sure to know
your size and the fit tendencies of the brand. At CoCo & Delilah we place
sizing information directly into the product copy. We are also happy to answer any
questions about the specific fit of a brand or item and
encourage our site visitors to email us at
customerservice@coco-delilah.com with any questions about size before making
a purchase.
2. Know Your Wardrobe - Knowing how an article of clothing will fit
into your current wardrobe is another important consideration of buying women's
clothing on clearance. Make sure you are buying the item because you truly
love it and you see that it works for you beyond the current season. To be
honest, you haven't really found a bargain if the item will just take up
important closet space, so consider how the item will match to make outfits with
your current wardrobe.
3. Find a Tailor You Can Trust - I have always felt that a good
tailor can make a good outfit an absolute standout. When you finally
settle on the clearance item to buy, make sure to use some of your savings on a
good tailor. Another strategy to consider, especially with dresses, skirts
or a blazer, is to order one size up and take the item to a tailor for the
perfect fit. A quality tailor is a fashion forward girl's best friend so
make sure to invest some time trying to find a tailor you can trust.
Thank you very much for your time. If you have any tips for buying women's
clothing on clearance that have worked for you, please let us know by e-mailing
us at
customerservice@coco-delilah.com. We will consider your suggestions
for the next update of this section.
Sincerely,
CoCo
